We were delighted to hold a bake sale in our showroom yesterday, (20th February) in aid of the Bliss premature baby charity as part of their national Bake for Bliss fundraising week. We were inspired to take part as Helen and Kevin from our Dobsons team’ son Joe was born 7 weeks premature in 2017 and spent 4 weeks in a neonatal unit and a further 6 weeks on home oxygen so it is a charity close to their hearts.
Many staff members contributed by making a selection of delicious cakes, some even on the day in the showroom’s Neff ovens. We joked that it was like our own version of the Great British Bake off!
Family and friends also made cakes and biscuits and came along to support on the day as well as customers and local businesses. Guests were offered teas and coffees to accompany their tasty treats and there was also a guess the number of sweets in a jar competition to win a John Lewis voucher.
We were delighted to raise well over £600 for this brilliant cause and Helen & Kevin would like thank everyone who donated, including the customers who sent donations but couldn’t make it on the day, and to all the team for putting in so much effort.
Director Helen Dobson said ‘ We joked that it was a bit like GBBO! All the team put in lots of effort and we are delighted to have raised over £500 for Bliss, big thanks to everyone who attended and donated’.
