Accessible Wetroom

Accessible Wetroom

Our clients Mr & Mrs W had recently moved to this property in Cheshunt and the brief was to replace the original bathroom and separate WC with a fully accessible shower room, as one is a wheelchair user. More importantly however, was emphasis to be placed on a design both stylish and modern and not one that would be automatically defined as an adapted bathroom.

Our Bespoke Build & Installation

The immediate impact is created by the Mandarin Stone Oska Jungle Green Hexagon tiles, which create a truly stunning feature wall.

The beauty of a wet room is that is all on one level, without need for a shower tray. The lack of contrasting colour shower tray creates a feeling of space. It also has the added benefit of making it perfect for anyone with reduced mobility. Here the water simply drains away into the floor.

The Hansgrohe Croma ceiling mounted Rainshower provides a relaxing drenching experience whereas the friction-based riser rail can give a more focused, intense shower with various spray patterns. The original toilet window was blocked up and insulated, becoming a tiled alcove and a perfect place to store toiletries.

A wall mounted slab basin such as the Villeroy and Boch Soho used here provides a generous washing space and standing area around the bowl. Dropping the installation height of the basin makes using the basin effortless for all whether they are seated or stood up. Abundant storage is achieved within the recessed Keuco Royal Modular 2.0 mirror cabinet, leaving the space beneath the basin unobstructed for wheelchair access.
