Your beautiful new kitchen starts here

Making the decision to have a new kitchen can be an exciting but apprehensive one. It is a big investment, and with endless options available, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start. That’s why at Dobsons, we pride ourselves on making the process from start to finish as seamless and stress-free as possible, using our many years of experience to advise and guide you and ease any of your concerns.

Typically, your kitchen journey will begin in our showroom, which is the perfect place to get ideas and inspiration and to begin forming a picture of how your new kitchen might look and function. At this stage, we can discuss your initial ideas and provide you with brochures to take away and peruse at your leisure. If you are ready, an appointment can be arranged for one of our designers to visit your home, measure your kitchen, and move the process to the next stage.

Getting the most for your design visit

Our initial appointment at your property can take up to two hours, during which a structural survey will be carried out, followed by a consultation with you to find out your requirements. Alternatively, we can work from your architect’s plans if your kitchen is part of a larger building project.

Giving some thought to how you might use the kitchen before our visit can provide us with a great insight into what your dream kitchen needs to incorporate. So you may wish to consider the points below, for example:

  • Does your kitchen double as an eating or dining area?
  • Do you and your family cook? (microwave meals excluded!)
  • Do you entertain often?
  • How many people use the kitchen at the same time?
  • Do you use the kitchen to work in or for children’s homework?
  • Do you watch TV or listen to music in the kitchen?
  • Do you use the kitchen for laundry and ironing?
  • Do you have pets that eat or sleep in the kitchen?
  • Do you have the potential to expand your kitchen by altering walls or blocking up openings?

If you prefer, you can make a list of your ‘must-haves’ ahead of our visit so that we can be sure that all the important points are covered.

And be assured that our designers have many years of experience and are experts at offering practical solutions to achieve the most from your space, however unusual or challenging it may be!

Working with your budget

As a kitchen is not an everyday purchase, many customers ask us for guidance in terms of a realistic budget for their kitchen project. Obviously, the style and size of the kitchen will have an impact on the cost, as will things such as the worktop and appliance choice. However, as a general guide, our kitchen projects, including all materials and installation, start at £30,000, with a more typical range being between £40,000 and £60,000.

If you are happy to discuss your budget with our designer, then this will enable us to point you in the right direction in terms of product choice and options.

Visualising your new Kitchen

Following your design visit, we will then return to the showroom to start working on producing highly realistic 3D colour CAD drawings of your new kitchen. Once these and your quotation are complete, we will contact you to arrange for you to come into the showroom and go through your design to make sure it meets your requirements. Please allow up to two weeks after the initial visit for this.

We hope at this stage that you will be pleased with the design; if, however, you wish to make further changes, we will be pleased to discuss these with you and make amendments.

Placing your order

If you decide you would like to proceed with your new kitchen, we will then prepare a sales contract and require a 25% deposit to secure the order.
We would also arrange a pre-installation visit from your dedicated project manager, who will now see your kitchen through to its completion. At this visit, a provisional installation date will be agreed upon.

The installation process

Once your installation date draws nearer, we will provide you with a detailed itinerary of how we envisage the installation progressing on a day-to-day basis. We will also require a further payment of 65% on the commencement of work.

A typical kitchen installation takes from 2–4 weeks to install, depending on the building and associated work involved. Our installers are experienced tradesmen who consistently receive excellent feedback for their attitude and tidiness. Your project manager will be on hand throughout the installation to answer any queries or concerns you may have and will coordinate the project to achieve a perfect, seamless finish.

Aftersales

Once the installation is complete and the final balance has been paid, you will be issued with your Dobsons guarantee, which covers any major defects for 6 years.
Should you require any after-sales service from us, we are always just a phone call away and happy to assist you.
