Dobsons held a virtual afternoon tea in their Cheshunt kitchen and bathroom showroom on 23rd June to help raise funds for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance charity.
Dobsons had agreed earlier this year to sponsor EHAAT’s ‘A Very British Afternoon Tea Month’ due to be held this June, which encourages people to get baking and enjoy a cuppa with friends, family and work colleagues – all to help raise vital funds for their local life-saving charity.
But unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic Dobsons could not hold their originally planned ticketed afternoon tea in their showroom but instead held a virtual one with participants taking part via zoom whilst enjoying tea and cakes and some fun games and quizzes.
Local Broxbourne based catering business Wombies Kitchen provided delicious afternoon teas in a box for many of the participants, donating a percentage from each sale to the charity.
Dobsons raised over £200 from the event which will help to support the air ambulances vital work. Director Helen Dobson said “We were delighted to still be able to support this fantastic local charity despite the COVID-19 restrictions, as like all charities they need our support now more than ever. The virtual afternoon tea was great fun and we can’t wait to hold a real one in our showroom hopefully later this year.’
You could invite a friend or neighbour over into your garden to take part (whilst respecting social distancing of course) to make an afternoon of it.
The idea is that you donate what you can for taking part in this event, whether that is what you would have spent on a posh afternoon it will all make a difference.
You can make your own bakes for your tea or if you would like the full afternoon tea experience we are teaming up with Wombies Kitchen who is creating a special afternoon tea in a box for the event for £15 including sandwiches, scones and cakes with £2 from every order going to the charity.
