Storm2 Timber Alternative Windows
Traditional Design Features
Innovative features and timber styling combine to create a beautiful timber alternative window, without compromising on durability or performance:
- Slimline sashes allow for more glazing area and more light to flood into your home
- Handcrafted timber-effect joints, replicating the classic joinery of timber with the strength of a modern weld
- An authentic butt hinge and deep traditional cill, following timber design principles
- Beautiful and low-maintenance woodgrain finishes, available in a range of colours (see below)
- Classic external Georgian bars available in either 36mm cottage or 20mm ovolo style
- Concealed ventilation hiding unsightly trickle vents
Outstanding Energy & Sound Performance
Of course, it’s no good having a beautifully designed window if it does not conform to the highest standards of energy efficiency. Fortunately, the Storm2 window excels here too, reaching an impressive A+ energy rating as standard. This therefore has the duel benefit of keeping your home warm and cosy in the winter as it retains heat, but also keeping it cool in the warm summer months (not to mention the money saved on energy bills)
The window also does a great job of shutting out external noise, but if this is a particular concern of yours then you may wish to consider an upgrade to acoustic glass, for even greater performance. This laminated glass features an extra layer of noise reduction and could reduce outside noise by up to 30%, perfect for those living near busy roads, streets or rail lines.
Superior Security Features
The next important factor to consider is safety, ensuring your home is not only warm and welcoming, but also safe and secure. How does the Storm2 window protect your home? As standard, Storm2 windows are fitted with rigorously tested multi-point shoot bolt locking, employing silver-finished steel bolts and engaging on three sides, with SAC bolts securing the fourth side.
For those looking for a front entrance door to complement the timber alternative windows, the English Door Company collection of front doors all feature equally sophisticated locking systems, engaging in 10 different positions and employing anti-drill, anti-snap, anti-pick and anti-bump locks, for complete peace of mind. See below for more about these doors.
A Choice of Colours
Now that we have covered the security and energy aspects, let’s return to the design element and look at the range of beautiful white or coloured authentic woodgrain foils available as standard. Extending across every face of the window, the foil mimics the elegant styling of timber windows, guaranteed for 10 years and with a life expectancy of over 30 years. It is also an almost maintenance-free option. There is a wide variety of classic colours to choose from – usually with a neutral white woodgrain on the inside, though they can of course be matched inside and out if you prefer. As well as the options shown below, we can also offer over 200 RAL colours or even colour match, for a truly bespoke design.
A Range of Beautiful Handles
Following on from the range of finishes, a large suite of exquisite handles and peg stays complete the great design freedom afforded by the Storm2 window. These range from sleek nickel-based standard handles and the contemporary teardrop or minimalist Ventiss option to the traditional wrought iron Period or Monkey Tail handles. Designers and homeowners are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding the right furniture to complement the window.
