Our story began over 85 years ago when Frank Dobson first started Dobsons in 1935, on the same Hertfordshire site that we remain on today.
Frank was followed into the business by his son, also Frank, and during the early years Dobsons formed part of an emergency repair group carrying out repairs to many buildings damaged in London during World War II
Then in the sixties and seventies we developed the business into shop fitting, fitting out many of the early local supermarkets and building societies.
The eighties saw the beginning of the transformation of Dobsons into the domestic home company that we are today, with the appointment of grandson Tim Dobson and the following year saw the opening of our first showroom on our site, a window and door centre.
We then continued to expand over the nineties into conservatories, kitchens and bedrooms. Finally adding bathrooms to the fold in the noughties and cementing our place as the complete home specialist.
Dobsons is now being led by the fourth generation of the Dobsons family and while many things have changed over our 85 years in business what hasn’t is our commitment to excellent customer service and high quality products. Our family values are at the heart of everything we do and we expect the same high standards for our installations as we would want in our own homes.
