The Journey to Your Dream Bespoke Kitchen: What to Expect

By October 3, 2024No Comments

Everyone has an idea of what their dream kitchen looks like. And if you have the space and the budget, there’s no reason why you can’t turn your vision into a reality by commissioning a luxury bespoke kitchen

What is a bespoke kitchen?

A bespoke kitchen is one that’s designed with your specific needs in mind. This means it’s built around your lifestyle and is not something that your lifestyle has to fit around. With standard ‘off the peg’ kitchens, you’re restricted to ready-made cabinetry that has to be fitted into the space as best as it can. Conversely, bespoke kitchens are made to measure so it doesn’t matter what kind of space you have, craftsmen will tailor-make something that will be an exact fit so everything looks perfect and is 100% functional. Bespoke kitchens are classified as luxury and will always use high quality materials and employ high standards of workmanship

Every single detail of a bespoke kitchen is important, no matter how small. The end result is a unique space that’s designed with luxury and convenience in mind, which means there will be a lot more to think about at the design stage than there would be for a standard kitchen.

The spark

This is the fun part, where you start thinking about what you want your ideal kitchen space to be like. Is it going to be a straightforward replacement, or part of a larger renovation project? Do you want it to be a separate room or part of an open plan living space? Do you have a theme in mind?

This is the time to look for inspiration so check out photos of other people’s kitchens, look for innovations and trends on websites like Houzz, and keep an eye on designer home magazines such as Ideal Home

Visiting the showroom

The next step in planning your dream kitchen is to visit our kitchen showroom. We’ve set up a number of kitchen installations in different layouts to showcase our wide range of kitchen cabinets, materials, layouts and furniture as well as examples of the different colours and finishes available in order to give you inspiration for your own project.

You’ll also have an initial chat with one of our specialist kitchen designers. They’ll talk to you about your initial ideas regarding what you’re looking for, as well as how you’ll be using your new kitchen – for example, if you do a lot of entertaining, your ideal kitchen will be different from people who just want somewhere to prepare the family meals. Your bespoke kitchen design will be heavily inspired by how you plan to use it.

Designing

After the initial chat, the hard work begins. Your kitchen designer will visit you at home to do a site survey and talk about what you want from your new kitchen in a lot more detail, including worktops, appliances, tiling, plumbing, and all aspects of the interior design.

With a much better idea of your dream kitchen and accurate measurements, the designer will then create a 3D computer-aided design. This will not only give you a good idea of what it will look like, it will also enable you to ‘walk through’ it. But don’t worry if it’s not quite right – this isn’t the final version by any means. The ideal kitchen never just happens, and from experience we know there will be at least two or three detailed revisions, going through every detail with a fine tooth comb before the project is signed off. We can then give you an estimate for the cost and a timeline for when we will carry out the installation work, as well as how long it will take.

Installation

We’ll continue to look after you throughout the installation process. You’ll have a project manager who’ll be your single point of contact throughout the work, freeing up more of your time and enabling you to get on with your life while we worry about your kitchen. Your project manager will be working on your behalf, taking care of all the details and ensuring the quality of the work.

If your new kitchen is part of renovation work being carried out in your home, your project manager will liaise with the other teams involved to make sure things run as smoothly as possible.

Moving into your new kitchen

Once the installation is complete it’ll be time to move back in. We’ll make sure we’ve cleaned up properly so you can put things in their rightful place straight away. Your project manager will continue to check in until any snagging issues have been sorted out – we want you to be 100% delighted with your new kitchen.
